2008 Week 5: Texas Tech Red Raiders 10, #20 Texas A&M Aggies 56

2008 Week 4: Texas A&M Aggies 57, #22 Oregon Ducks 14

2008 Week 3: Iowa Hawkeyes 13, Texas A&M Aggies 49

After being humbled by Virginia Tech last week, the Aggies dismantled the Hawkeyes to improve to 2-1. All 3 A&M quarterbacks saw action in the blowout. McGee was doing just fine, perfect actually, going 9 of 9 for 151 yards and 2 TDs and rushing 3 yards for a TD before he was taken out of the game for Elbow Bursitis at the end of the 1st Quarter. Jerrod Johnson took over, going 6 of 11 for 95 yards and 2 INTs, and rushing for 67 yards and 2 TDs before he was taken out of the game with a Torn Quadricep. Ryant Tannehill took over for the 4th Quarter and went 4 of 9 for 61 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT, and scrambling for 18 yards himself. The Legion of Doom tight end tandem of Martellus Bennett and Joey Thomas were nearly unstoppable and therefore were the only 2 receiving targets. Thomas had 10 catches for 173 yards and 2 TDs while Bennett had 9 catches for 134 yards and a TD. The Aggies scored on their first possession, picked off the first Hawkeye pass of the game to set up another TD, and then Chris Harrington returned a fumble on the Hawkeyes' second possession to quickly put the Aggies up 21-0. The Aggies built a 28-point lead before the Hawkeyes finally scored in the 2nd Quarter. The Aggies answered right back with another touchdown to make it a 29-point lead since Iowa missed the PAT. The Hawkeyes would score once more in the 3rd quarter, and the Aggies added 2 more touchdowns for good measure. McGee is slated to return to action against Oregon next week, but Johnson is out for the next 8 weeks. The Aggies are seeking their first road win before conference play begins.

2008 Week 2: Texas A&M Aggies 14, #9 Virginia Tech Hokies 24

After defeating the Texas Tech Red Raiders 31-10 in Lubbock, the Virginia Tech Hokies won their home opener against the Texas A&M Aggies 24-14. The 1st quarter was scoreless, and the Hokies scored the first points of the game in the 2nd quarter with a field goal. The Aggies answered with a touchdown near the end of the half. VT punted on their next possession but it was fumbled by Kerry Franks and returned for a touchdown to put the Hokies up 10-7 at the half. Stephen McGee threw an interception in the early minutes of the 3rd quarter, setting up 1st and goal for the Hokies, who easily punched it in and took a 17-7 lead. McGee lead the Aggies to the redzone but fumbled just before going out of bounds. After taking over, Hokie QB Tyrod Taylor beamed a 76 pass to Eddie Royal for another Virginia Tech TD, and a commanding 24-7 lead. On the Aggies' next possession, McGee beamed a pass to Mike Goodson near the sidelines. Goodson eluded defenders on his way to a 67 yard touchdown to make it 24-14. The Hokies chewed up clock with their running game, including their dual-threat QB. Aggies couldn't manage to find an offensive rhythm against the quick Hokie defense. The Aggies dropped to 1-1 while the Hokies improved to 2-0. McGee was 12 of 31 for 263 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs with 22 yards and a fumble on the ground. Mike Goodson had 53 rush yards, with 2 receptions for 103 yards and a TD, while TE Joey Thomas had 5 catches for 101 yards. The Aggies return to Kyle Field to face the Iowa Hawkeyes.
2008 Week 1: Arkansas Razorbacks 14, Texas A&M Aggies 21

The Aggies got off to a good start this season by winning their home opener against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Aggie defense limited Darren McFadden to 75 yards and a TD, which came off of a 55 yard run. McGee was 13 of 31 for 262 yards and a TD and 2 INTs, with 59 yards and a TD on the ground. Martellus Bennett had 4 receptions for 107 yards and a TD. The Aggies head out for their first road game. They will be playing their Virginia counterparts, the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Beginning new franchise
Unfortunately the current franchise has become corrupted and unusable, so I am starting over. I will still be using the Aggies, but with a different schedule, and hopefully some more realistic settings. I will leave the previous posts up as a reminder of the Aggies' amazing 5-0 start, before losing to Texas Tech (again).

Miami Hurricanes 22, Texas A&M Aggies 27

Texas A&M Aggies 27, Georgia Bulldogs 17

This weekend, the Aggies traveled to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta to face the Georgia Bulldogs. It seemed as though we would have had a half without a single TD, as the Aggies scored 2 field goals and the Bulldogs one of their own. With the 1st half winding down, Stephen McGee connected on a 52-yard pass to E.J. Shankle to give the Aggies a 13-3 lead at the half. Georgia came out on offense and Thomas Brown jogged into the endzone untouched to score their first touchdown and make it 13-10. Jorvorskie Lane rumbled his way through the Bulldog defense, scoring a TD on the ground and putting the Ags up 20-10 going into the 4th quarter. Georgia chewed up alot of clock on their next possession, capping it off with a 13 yard TD pass to Thomas Brown and making the score 20-17. After an Aggie 3-and-out, the Bulldogs took over with 1:50 left on the clock and all of their timeouts. QB Matt Stafford managed the clock well and it seemed as though the Bulldogs were on the verge of handing the Aggies their first loss of the season. The Aggie defense tightened up, however, and sacked Stafford on a 4th down conversion try. All the Aggies had to do now was run out the clock. But it didn't happen that way. McGee handed the ball off to Mike Goodson, who took it all the way to the endzone on a 41 yard run to seal the deal. With less than a minute left in the game, the Bulldogs were desperate, but couldn't manage the plays they needed, losing a heartbreaker and becoming the 4th straight team to fall to the Fightin' Texas Aggies. The Georgia defense limited McGee's impact this week, as he went 13 of 30 for 188 yards and 1 TD and 47 rushing yards. Goodson ran for exactly 100 yards and 1 TD. For the first time this season, McGee was not named Big XII or NCAA Offensive Player of the Week. Both honors went to Oklahoma Sooners Wide Receiver Juaquin Iglesias, who had 9 catches for 107 yards and 3 TDs. The Aggies head back home next week to face the Miami Hurricanes (1-3), who are coming off back to back 2-point losses to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Virginia Cavaliers. Miami's lone win was at home against the Iowa Hawkeyes, a 10-6 affair, after being blown out by the Michigan Wolverines in Week 1. Miami is the first unranked opponent for the Aggies this season, and even though the Aggie's are undefeated and playing at home, many are expecting a close game. The Hurricanes are just hoping to leave Kyle Field in better shape than the Sooners did last week.
Oklahoma Sooners 21, Texas A&M Aggies 56

No, you read that right. The Sooners got their Crimson and Cream butts handed to them on a Maroon and White platter! OU came into Kyle Field touting the #1 ranked defense, but it was the Aggies' defense that wreaked havoc, and the Aggie offense seemed to do whatever it pleased with the Sooners. The Aggies quickly scored on their first possession and then forced and recovered a fumble on the Sooner's first possession. The Aggies had a 14-0 lead in no time. But before you could blink, Japhus Brown was returning an INT 33 yards at the end of the 1st quarter to put the Aggies up 21-0. The Aggies built a 31-0 lead before Danny Gorrer slipped on the turf, allowing Juaquin Iglesias to make an 80 yard TD reception and put the Sooners on the board. The Aggies added another touchdown before the end of the half to take a 38-7 lead. It seemed like the Coach gave the Sooners one helluva pep talk in the locker room, as they came out in the 3rd playing more like the Sooners we all know and...uhhh....never mind. Juaquin Iglesias returned the first kickoff of the 2nd half 94 yards for a touchdown. After stopping the Aggies on defense, Sam Bradford tossed a 62 yard touchdown pass to Malcolm Kelly to further cut into the massive Aggie lead. That would be the last time the Sooners scored in the game. Seeing their lead being hacked away, the Aggies made the adjustments and added a TD of their own at the end of the 3rd to stop the bleeding. In the 4th quarter, the Wrecking Crew was out in full force, pushing the Sooners backwards with 8 sacks (5 by Mark Dodge alone), several tackles for losses, an INT by Devin Gregg, and a safety by Mark Dodge. The Aggies scored yet another TD, after which Syzmanski missed the PAT. He redeemed himself later by making another field goal. With the blowout win, the Aggies are 3-0 (2-0 Big XII) and have handed losses to 3 straight ranked opponents. And for the 3rd straight time Texas A&M Quarterback Stephen McGee was chosen as the Big XII and NCAA Offensive Player of Week, going 19 of 40 for 429 yards and 4 TDs, rushing for 90 yards and 1 TD. Whispers are starting to be heard in College Station of another Aggie Heisman winner in Stephen McGee. It's a long season, so we'll just have to see. Next week should be a good one as the Aggies head to Georgia to play the Bulldogs.

Texas A&M Aggies 45, Tennessee Volunteers 32

This game was alot closer than the final score indicates. Both defenses were stifling at first, but then both teams managed to find some offensive rhythm. A TD at the end of the first half put the Aggies up 21-17. In the 3rd quarter, both teams played lock-down defense, but after a PERFECT punt by the Vols, McGee was pressured to the back of the Aggie endzone. McGee ran out of bounds to avoid the sack, giving up the safety, and making the score 21-19. McGee once again made magic with his feet, scoring the only touchdown of the quarter and putting the Aggies up 28-19 going into the 4th quarter. Erik Ainge was determined to give the Aggies a fight and launched a 65 yard bomb to make the score 28-26. The Aggies managed to find a way through the stifling Tennessee defense to make it 35-26. Ainge launched another bomb from 42 yards out to make it 35-32 after the Volunteers failed to make the 2pt conversion. Both teams kept each other out of the redzone for a few possessions, with Ainge throwing 2 heartbreaking interceptions, but even then the Vols knew they were not out of it, and the Aggies knew it too. Failing to get into the redzone once again, Matt Szymanski came out onto the field to attempt a 50 yard field goal for the Ags. The ball split the goal posts as the screams of horror rang throughout Neyland Stadium, and the Aggies took a 6-point lead. Still, there was enough time on the clock, too much for the Aggies. Erik Ainge was methodical, and for a moment, as he marched his team down the field to the Aggies' redzone, it seemed as if he would earn himself his 2nd straight 4th quarter comeback, his first being last week at UCLA (25-24 Final). But then all hope was shattered as Ainge threw his 4th pick straight into Arkeith Brown's hands. But instead of running the remaining time off the clock, the Aggies cut through the demoralized Tennessee defense to add one more TD and put the game in the books. McGee was 18 of 35 for 222 yards and 5 TDs and 111 rushing yards and a TD, once again earning Big XII and NCAA Offensive Player of the Week honors. With the win, the Aggies are 2-0 (1-0 Big XII) and have beaten 2 straight Top 25 opponents leading in to their Big XII showdown vs Oklahoma next week. Many are predicting an upset of the Sooners, who's defense is currently ranked #1. Texas A&M's defense is right behind at #2. Who knows? It's happened before. Don't underestimate the 12th Man! GIG 'EM AGGIES!
Kansas Jayhawks 24, Texas A&M Aggies 34

Big XII showdown to start the season, the Jayhawks visit Kyle Field, the 12th Man eager to see how their Fightin' Texas Aggies perform with a new Head Coach. From the first kickoff, it seems like these are the same old Aggies as Kerry Franks fumbles the return, giving the Jayhawks great field position. The defense holds and the Jayhawks tack on the field goal. On the next possession, it seems like the Ags are getting into a rhythm before Stephen McGee throws his first of 3 picks. After a quick 3 and out the Aggies regain possession and march down the field for a score. After another great defensive showing the Aggies tack on another touchdown before the end of the quarter. After yet another 3 and out, it seems like the Aggies are taking control as they march back into the red zone, and then McGee throws his 2nd pick which is returned for the Jayhawks' first touchdown. On the next Aggie possession, McGee beams a pass to Mike Goodson who then fumbles the ball, resulting in yet another defensive TD for the Jayhawks. McGee decides to take things into his own hands, or should I say feet. Seemingly every play in the remainder of the half was a Zone Read, as McGee rushed for over 60 yards and a TD. He would end the game with 203 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs to earn the Aggies a 1-0 record in both Conference and league play, as the Jayhawks would score only once more in the rest of the game. McGee also finished 19 of 27 for 255 yards and 2 TDs and earned Big XII and NCAA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Backup QB Jerrod Johnson added 50 rushing yards of his own, including a 32 yard run after McGee took a hard hit. Until next time, GIG 'EM AGGIES!
