Kansas Jayhawks 24, Texas A&M Aggies 34

Big XII showdown to start the season, the Jayhawks visit Kyle Field, the 12th Man eager to see how their Fightin' Texas Aggies perform with a new Head Coach. From the first kickoff, it seems like these are the same old Aggies as Kerry Franks fumbles the return, giving the Jayhawks great field position. The defense holds and the Jayhawks tack on the field goal. On the next possession, it seems like the Ags are getting into a rhythm before Stephen McGee throws his first of 3 picks. After a quick 3 and out the Aggies regain possession and march down the field for a score. After another great defensive showing the Aggies tack on another touchdown before the end of the quarter. After yet another 3 and out, it seems like the Aggies are taking control as they march back into the red zone, and then McGee throws his 2nd pick which is returned for the Jayhawks' first touchdown. On the next Aggie possession, McGee beams a pass to Mike Goodson who then fumbles the ball, resulting in yet another defensive TD for the Jayhawks. McGee decides to take things into his own hands, or should I say feet. Seemingly every play in the remainder of the half was a Zone Read, as McGee rushed for over 60 yards and a TD. He would end the game with 203 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs to earn the Aggies a 1-0 record in both Conference and league play, as the Jayhawks would score only once more in the rest of the game. McGee also finished 19 of 27 for 255 yards and 2 TDs and earned Big XII and NCAA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Backup QB Jerrod Johnson added 50 rushing yards of his own, including a 32 yard run after McGee took a hard hit. Until next time, GIG 'EM AGGIES!
