The Aggies started off the season with a somewhat close win against the Razorbacks. The following week, they lost to a tough and quick Hokies team. Since the loss to Virginia Tech, the Aggies have steamrolled their last 3 opponents (Iowa, Oregon, and Texas Tech), outscoring them 162-37 and averaging 54 points a game while holding opponents to 12.3 points a game. Texas A&M has scored at least 56 points in each of its last 2 games. Once again, Mike Goodson took it to the defense, this time rushing for 113 yards and a TD, with 6 catches for 153 yards and 4 TDs, including a 61 yard TD pass from Tannehill. Speaking of Tannehill, the 3rd string QB looked right at home at the starting position, going 14 of 28 for 305 yards and 5 touchdowns, with 60 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. Tannehill threw only one pick, but otherwise looked very good, beaming a 37-yarder to Jorvorskie Lane, lobbing a 32-yarder to Kerry Franks, and calmly lofting a perfect pass 35 yards to an awaiting E.J. Shankle in the endzone. "Wrecking Crew! Wrecking Crew!" rang throughout the stadium, as the Aggie defense put on an awesome display. Chris Harrington sacked Graham Harrell 3 times. Mark Dodge added 2 more sacks, and Michael Bennett had one as well. Early in the game, Mark Dodge forced Harrell to fumble, while Devin Gregg picked him off twice. Japhus Brown also had an INT. The two teams head to Lubbock for the 2nd game in the series. Will Texas Tech extract revenge at home, or will the Aggies stake full claim to bragging rights over the Red Raiders for the first time in 5 years? A&M is now 4-1 (1-0 Big XII). Mike Goodson was named NCAA and Big XII Offensive Player of the Week for his oustanding performance this week.
